The purpose of chemistry is to provide students with an introduction to chemistry concepts and techniques. Chemistry will cover the major concepts of inorganic chemistry. The main units include: laboratory methods and safety; connecting chemistry to everyday life; scientific measurement; problem solving; atomic structure; naming chemicals; chemical reactions; behavior of gases; periodic table; bonding; and acids and bases. Demonstrations, experiments, and special projects will be used to develop a deeper understanding of the concepts studied. Technology will include Vernier Sensors that can be used to collect and interpret experimental data.
